Movie Review Of Singh Is Kingg *ing Akshay Kumar , Katrina kaif

Singh is Kinng is about a halfwit Sikh guy, Happy Singh (Akshay Kumar), from a village in Punjab who always cause trouble to village people and they are vexed by his unique ability to cause troubles. So, in order to get rid of him, they pack-off him to Australia to bring underworld King, Lucky Singh (Sonu Sood), back to their village. There he lands into various troubles and meet the love of his life, Sonia (Katrina Kaif), who is already committed.

This is the general outline of the film and to be honest, it is not that “original”. Singh is Kinng is filled with serendipities and misunderstandings. Add a lot of toilet jokes to it, and there you have a typical Anees Bazmee movie. His last movie, Welcome, was a big success, but the same thing can’t be said about the reviews from both the critics and the audience. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, check out IMDB.com, there it only got 5.4/10 rating from 825 votes.

But that was the past, now let’s get back to Singh is Kinng. Honestly speaking, Singh is Kinng is a very competent idea of the director to make huge money, just like with Welcome, without even giving a damn about the audience who pays a lot to watch an amiable and sensible comedy.

From the title of the movie, you expect it to have some different approach to portray Sikhs in the Bollywood movies unlike those movies in which Sikhs are represented as cretinous (idiots). But no, this movie is the same like those movies. I’m a person who believes in providing full liberty to the artist to express his opinions, even if they offend someone.

But, if you give a title Singh is Kinng to a movie, then I expect you to justify the title of the movie. Sadly, this is not the case with this one. No doubt, this movie would be a big hit, but when it comes to morals and honesty towards your work, it falls flat.

Performances

Akshay Kumar

He is undoubtedly the king of comedies and he is proving his worth with every movie. He really gets into the character of Happy Singh, and delivers it with brilliance.

But again, I’ve one question for him. I know you are a popular star now, but why are you pretending to care about the Sikhs? You go on blabbering about Singh is Kinng on award shows and promotional events, but where is your honesty towards the subject?

Just say that, “I only want to make money out of it and I don’t give a shit about anything else. I want to be the King of Bollywood.”

You should use your popularity to do some movies that can send some good message among the youth of India instead of doing such cheap movies. That is the difference between you and Aamir Khan and ShahRukh Khan.

Katrina Kaif

Please someone tell this girl to stop acting. This is one of the worst performances I’ve seen in a long time. She can even make Ayesha Takia’s performance in De Taali as an Oscar worthy performance.

I know you’ve the looks that can make any guy want to be with you in bed and believe me, directors and producers are using you for this reason only. You don’t stand anywhere close to the other female actors in terms of acting like Vidya Balan, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor, hell you are even worse than Aishwarya Rai and I’m really serious about this.

Please go to some good acting school and learn some acting. You’re just an eye candy in the movies and I don’t think it is a good sign for your career.

Supporting Cast

I’m really mad about the wastage of Ranvir Shorey in this movie. He is one of the best actors to come out from Bollywood in recent times. Why did you waste such a wonderful talent in your movie, Anees Bazmee?

Om Puri shares a good chemistry with Akshay and gives an above average performance. Kirron Kher really stands out in the movie. Javed Jaffrey, Neha Dhupia and Sonu Sood give average performances.

Final Words – Singh is Kinng is your average Akshay Kumar entertainer. Go to the cinema hall without your brain and you’ll enjoy it, although chances are less. Akshay Kumar carries this movie on his shoulders. If you are a diehard fan of Akhsay Kumar, then it would be a perfect treat for you. And if you are not, better wait it to come on TV.

One advice to Anees Bazmee - Please stop making such stupid movies and use your talent in a better way. I know you want to make a lot of money, but please, don’t do it on the expense of someone’s feelings and yes, I’m talking about Sikhs. Have some morals and I’m talking to you too, Akshay!

I’m not a religious fanatic and I simply don’t care about anything but not everyone is like me. But I can bet that many Sikh groups would be pissed at this movie. I was going through the reviews of the movie and found one on Sikhnet. Do read it and you’ll see what they think about this one.

Verdict – If brainless and toilet humor is your taste of a good comedy then go watch it. Be my guest. But if your taste is opposite to mentioned above then refrain yourself from this one.

Box-office result – It would be a big hit as I mentioned earlier, considering the hype around this movie. But sometimes, there is something more than just money which is certainly not true for both the director and the actors.

Rajinikanth appears twenty minutes after the movie begins. And remains through the length of the film, though not in every single frame. In all he appears for a total of 60 minutes.And in 3 rocking songs.

Kuselan is a fun filled 2 hours, 10 minutes with about 20 minutes given over to emotional drama. There are no real fight sequences, only the ones staged for this movie within a movie.

It has two parallel stories about two friends - one rich, one poor.

HighLights : 6 punch dialogue sequence filled with comedy that will delight not just fans of Thalaivar but everyone in the audience.

Rajini usually has one stand-out line in every movie -here he takes that old saying, “Matha Pitha Guru Dheivam” and turns it into a new saying about the importance of freindship: “Matha Pitha Guru Nanban Dheivam”. We can bet that this is going to be a catchy line that all of us will be repeating soon.

For many of us who have been wondering a lot about Rajini’s political ambitions and his sojourns into the Himalayas, he answers us all in Kuselan with such wit and tact that it will silence us from speculating anymore!

As in Chandramuki, where the Superstar gave equal screen presence to Prabhu, and Joythika, here, in Kuselan, he has given importance to other actors sharing the screen with him.
Kuselan

The climax, with Pasupathy and Rajini, is sure to melt hearts! Pasupathy is marvelous; perhaps his best performance to date. Comedy by Vadivelu is top-notch, rivaling his performance in Chandramukhi.

Nayantara simply sizzles effortlessly, proving why she is the numero uno. Arivind Krishna’s camera work is prefect, matching the mood of the movie . This is a Thalaivar movie, and yet it is also something completely different! Thalaivar’s style here as he plays himself reaches a new high.

Overall : Movie is Entertaining

Hare Ram (2008) Movie Review *ing Kalyan Ram

My analysis: Nandamuri Kalyan Ram has atlast did a decent movie after a very long time, his last good movie being Atanokkade. It seems that Kalyan Ram is being very careful in story selection, action, body language etc only when he is producing the movie. Over all Hare Ram movie is a good action flick with good amount of twists. Good story, apt direction, crisp editing and good music adds to the success of the movie.

Only problem in the story is that it has the shades of tamil flick Manmadhan in which Simbu goes on a killing spree.

Similarities between Hare Ram and Manmadhan:

1. Hero plays dual roles.

2. The younger one is mentally retarted.

3. The younger one kills people in both the movies (It is shown in that way in the first half).

4. In the second half, it is revealed that the eleder one kills everybody in both the flicks.

5. The mentally retarded hero dies in both the movies.

6. The eleder one comes out of the hands of Police using the name of mentally retarded hero in both the movies.

7. Sindhu Tolani is the heroine for the mentally disabled guy in both the movies.

8. Heroine has a killer phobia in both the movies.

9. Both movies has revenge as the back drop.

But the best part of the movie is that both Kalyan Ram and director Harsha Vardhan could make a good story and movie even though it had the shades of Manmadhan film. Its a decent movie with good technical values.

Performances: Nandamuri Kalyan Ram has done the roles of a sincere Police officer and a serial killer. He showed good differece between the two roles. His body language and his mannerisms were good and different for both the roles. He showed his acting talent for the first time in his entire filmy career.

Priyamani as the modern girl who runs behind the hero is good, but her role as a CBI officer didn’t suit her. She looks good in the modern outfits. Sindhu Tolani is the second heroine who looks decent in her brief role. She does the role of a TV reporter.

Kota Srinivas Rao and Rajeev Kanakala as usual suited for the villan’s roles.

Brahmanandam, Raghu Babu, Ali and Venu Madhav created the necessary comedy for Hare Ram.

Chandra Mohan, Sita, Chalapathi Rao and Sudha lived up in the roles of hero’s parents.

Music by Mickey J Meyer is very good, mainly the background score. Background score is really good when the serial killer comes into the scene. The music for the songs and their picturization is also good.

Story by Ram Prasad is good. He has mixed action with health mafia. The only problem in the story is that, it has the shades of tamil movie Manmadhan who had Silambarasan playing the lead roles.

Direction by Harsha Vardhan is excellent. He has given the required twists at the requried moment. He maintained the tempo of the movie till the last without losing the grip on the story. Only the climax episode is little big and prolonged.

Story: Ram and Harikrishna (Kalyan Ram) are brothers who get seperated in childhood because of Ram’s mental attitude. Hari Krishna grows up to be an IPS officer and Ram grows up to be a serial killer who kills intelligent people. Anjali (Priyamani) is a CBI officer who arrests Hari Krishna for serial killings. To know who does all the murders and the reason behind the murders, one must see Hare Ram movie.

Ram GopalVarma's Contract Movie Review (2008)

After ‘Sarkar Raj’ , Ramgopal Varma teams up with Praveen Nicshol for yet another film on the underworld. This time out it goes as follows:
1998: Satya

An Overview of the underworld
2008: Underworld meets terrorism
Well Ramu has always played it well with topics concerning the underworld; well now let’s see how he fuses in the terrorism angle.
Primarily the film is such a drab leaving you nowhere. Majority of the sequences and occurrences in the film make you wonder whether it has really been done by Ramgopal Varma or one of his so called ‘chelas’.
The narration, treatment, screenplay is almost void in the film. Prashant Pandey’s writing is extremely miserable and you are totally lost. One wonders why Ramu or the producers would engage in blasphemy by calling this film the completion of a trilogy after ‘Satya’ and ‘Company’.
The editing of the film by Amit Parmar and Nipun Gupta is vague. For a Ramgopal Varma film claiming to be the completion of a trilogy , it’s a big letdown. Take a look at films such as ‘Company’ and ‘Satya’, at no point where you bored or stranded in the middle of nowhere. This film ‘Contract’ has no relevancy whatsoever and requires serious trimming.
What was Shama Sikander doing with that so called item number or rave party sequence?
There are so many things that just annoy you and lack substance like the character Goonga’s(Upendra Limaye) wife, the silly dialogues of foolishness rather patriotism and the excessive use of the word ‘Secret’. Why did Ramu make such a film? ‘Secret’.
On the acting front Adhvik Mahajan is ok but nowhere close to characters that have remained with us since ‘Satya’ or ‘Company’. Sakshi Gulati too is just fine. Zakir Hussain and Upendra Limaye are not at their best. Sumeet Nijahawan fits the bill as RD.
For a great filmmaker like Ramgopal Varma , ‘Contract’ comes as a shock to all Ramu fans and aspiring directors who have always looked upto him. But, Ramgopal Varma ought to rise up and maybe take a break from films on the underworld or the occult and rather return to his ‘Rangeela ’days.

Kismat Konnection is one of the most awaited films this season and there is lots of hype surrounding it. However, it happens quite frequently that many hyped movies turn out to be big disappointments such as Tashan, Love Story 2050, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic,etc. Fortunately, this is not the case with Kismat Konnection. It`s not just all hype and no substance but a movie with a soul that will immediately connect with the audience.

Story:

The basic plot of the movie revolves around Raj Malhotra (Shahid Kapoor) (doesn`t the name sound too SRKish?…but the film is not as cliched as the name sounds, thankfullysmiling smiley, an architect, who was touted as the next BIG thing during his college days…be it academics,sports,dramatics…he was an all-rounder and his friends had made a TIME magazine cover with Raj`s face on it. Despite his potential and abilities, Raj failed to make it big in life and after 5 years of his graduation he is still not able to achieve success in his life because luck never supported him. Something or the other always goes wrong with him…when he has to wake up at the morning, his alarm clock doesn`t ring, when he is about to be appointed as an architect, the boss of the contracting company dies and so on. Raj tries his luck once again to be appointed for a shopping mall construction project by Mr.Gill (Om Puri) but luck once again betrays him when an old school friend (Manoj Joshi) of his attempts to take away the contract from Raj`s hands and secure it for himself. A disappointed Raj one night sees an advertisment on the television which claims to provide the solution to everyone`s problems in life. The advertisment states that anyone who contacts Haseena Bano Jaan (Juhi Chawla) will be freed from all his worries forever. So, Raj obviously notes down her address and drops in at her premises. Haseena Bano Jaan states that there is a force that is his lucky charm and would remove all his problems but he has to recognize that ’force’. Raj meets Priya (Vidya Balan) several times…once when his car is about to collide with hers…or at the ATM card machine spot or at a bar. Each time he meets her, things turn out to be in his favour and miracles take place with him. He manages to secure a construction contract and also manages to impress Mr.Gill, when it seems impossible to him. It is then when he realizes that Priya is that force that is his lucky charm. However, there are two problems; Priya runs an old citizens hospital and Gill`s shopping mall is constructed at the same place as the hospital and secondly, Priya is about to get married within a few days and Raj won`t have his lucky charm for very long, with him. Plus, Raj also realises by then that he is in love with Priya.

Music:

The soundtrack composed by Pritam is another strong point. My favourite songs from the movie are Aai Paapi, Bakhuda Tum Hi Ho, Sohni and Move Your Body (which appears during the end credits). Other than that, the camerawork of the movie si fantastic. Most of the movie has been shot in Canada and it has been shot so beautifully that I felt like going on a vacation there smiling smiley The film carries a very stylish look but thank God that the story didn`t suffer due to this style…the impact of the movie only enhanced with it.

Performances:

Performances are also top-notch. Shahid Kapoor, even though looks quite young (he can`t help it smiling smiley has undoubtedly matured as an actor and is a complete natural. Vidya Balan is the best thing that has happened to Bollywood since last three years. She is one of the most talented actresses today. Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, etc. maybe some of the top actresses today but not any of them is half as talented as Vidya, when it comes to acting. Vidya almost instantly clicks with the audience and the ease with which she performs makes it a treat to watch her act. She also looks amazingly gorgeous, throughout.

Vishal Malhotra who played Shahid`s best friend in Ishq Vishk is back with Shahid once again and does a fantastic job, complementing Shahid throughout and gives a spontaneous performance. Juhi Chawla does something quite different in the role of a numerologist (a la Sunita Menon) and manages to entertain in her special appearance.The surprise factor of the movie is Himani Shivpuri as Om Puri`s wife. For the first time, she does not irritate but actually makes you laugh, thanks to her perfect comic timing, this time around. You will just love her (loved her dialogue, ’’first,reduce your tone”). Om Puri, Boman Irani and others also do a fine job.

Verdict:

On the whole, Kismat Konnection is a complete family entertainer which is sure to lure everyone`s hearts and do well at the box-office too. You should definitely give this one a watch.

Review Summary
Director Taylor Hackford teams with screenwriters Armyan Bernstein and Terry Jastrow to tell the true-life tale of a South African game-preserve proprietor who put his own life at risk to rescue the endangered creatures of the Baghdad Zoo at the onset of the Iraq War in 2003. Lawrence Anthony is the owner and operator of Thula Thula- an expansive game preserve in South Africa. Upon learning that fighting has broken out in Iraq, Anthony recalls a report stating that most zoo animals are either killed or die of neglect in times of war. But Anthony is determined not to let this grim fate befall the animals of the Baghdad Zoo, and seven days after the U.S. invasion begins, he sneaks across the Kuwait border to make a disheartening discovery. In the course of only one week, half of the zoo's 1,000 animals have already died. Review:

Long movie, that is what people will feel after coming out of the theater. Harman baweja's debut to Indian Cinema. Prior to release the movie was seriously hyped. Love Story 2050, itself was enough to create curiosity among masses but do it really makes justification. Do it really made people to come to the cinema hall ? I guess, not really. Seeing the crowd itself reveals that people were not much excited about it. A big budget movie with promos showing sci-fi stuff all around seems to be another lousy attempt from Indian cinema in the field of sci-fi and futuristic movies.

Seriously, I had no expectation when I entered the theater. And after watching it, I was right. What I saw was something out of logic and as expected, ill treatment of special effects and there were hardly effects those were special. Ok, I am no movie director and neither a big time technician but come on ... I need to know what these people had in mind while they made this movie. Seriously disappointed with the execution of script and the presentation. Seems that the director went excited enough and took the subject which he hardly had proper knowledge of.

Before talking further, lets have glimpse how movie story goes. ..
Movie starts in current time and Karan (Harman Baweja) shows an stylish entry. He is son neglected son of a big businessman and have conflicts with his father. Soon, like a common Indian movie romance, he find his love Sana (Priyanaka Chopra). On the other hand, there is his uncle who is making a time machine, Sana wants to goto in future on this machine but unfortunately she dies. But there is now theory of rebirth and Zeisha is rebirth of Sana in 2050. Karan is now in future and wants Zeisha to come with in present. There is Dr. Hoshi who wants to steal time machine from uncle Ya (Boman irani). He now have to fight Dr. Hoshi to save the world. And rest we all know.

Movie is filled with lots of element to make it masala packed, we have romance, we have future, we have time travelling, we have punar janam (rebirth) and lots of music and special effects but still all this does not help movie to become exciting or something to be talked about. I had watched Harry Baweja's previous attempt of sci-fi movie and this is one is not an exception but total disappointment.

I wish if he had worked on something which he knows best better than the sci-fi and future stuff then would have come up with something more interesting and praising. Movie seems like mixture of lots of Hollywood movies. First half is slow and common while second half where our Hero is in future is filled with lots of challenges to your logic. Special effects just makes things undigestable and seems as if they are there included just for the sake of name of the movie.

Music of the film is average while few songs are pleasant composition. This is script and screen play which so lousy and looks amateurish, from all this you may easily get idea that there is no good cordination between technical team and director. I feel there was no team like creativity team which they seriously need. I think we will never get chance to see a good Sci-Fi movie from Indian in atleast next coming couple of years.

Harman Baweja debut movie seems to have ambition of being different otherwise there is nothing in the movie to watch for. Harry Baweja is ofcoruse watchable and he stands out. But I don't if it was get up and dance steps but this guy keeps me reminding of Hrithik Roshan all the time. Anyways, his performance is good in movie even in most emotional scenes.

Priyanaka Chopra with plenty of opportunity in the movie does not leaves any special impact. Even Boman Irani was not utilized properly. Other characters were just to full fill their places.

This movie disappoints big time because of its theme, I wish if Harry Baweja had used this much effort in creating something logistic then would not be such waste of resources.

My Rating goes on Average .. ie. 2.5 / 5

Watch this movie in theater if you do not have any other option that day to kill your time.

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane na Hindi Movie Review 2008

The common question comes to mind when aamir khan is producing a film will be, how the movie is going to be? Coming to jaane tu ya jaane na, will it live up to the expectations?

Story:

While Jaane Tu is Imran’s debut vehicle, it is really Genelia who steals the show. The actress is a real livewire on screen and conveys those annoying feelings of jealousy, confusion, irritability and fake happiness without any problem.

Within the gang, who sport very Bombay nicknames such as Rats (Jai), Meow (Aditi), Bombs (Sandhya), Jiggy (Jignesh), the guys fare much better than the girls. Jiggy delights as the Gujju while Rotlu and Bombs together are smashing as the couple who discover each other as soul mates when left solo by their crushes, Jai and Aditi.

Supporting cast members like Ratna Pathak Shah as Jai’s mum, Paresh Rawal as the police inspector, Naseeruddin Shah, as Jai’s dead Rajput father who speaks from his portrait hold, fort magnificently.

Even the sub-plot of Jai’s rite of passage as a true male Rathore from Ranjhore family by fulfilling three conditions - beating up a person, spending time in jail and riding a horse - is largely saved and made palatable by way of the safe casting of the Shahs and Arbaaz and Sohail Khan, who appear as Rathore boys in the guise of dancing cowboys.

On a whole jaane tu ya jaane na is a lovely cute movie honestly.
Its not a story which never heard or seen but then just like aamir said, It does revive good old college days and bring us a nice love story..

Performances:
Coming to acting, every character has performed well enough.
Debutant Imran looks cool and acting is admirable.
I am not too much in favour of genelia but still she was good in the movie...
It's a love story we all have seen earlier as well. But Abbas Tyrewala made it in such a way that movie looks fresh and touching.

Music: was as expected and well picturized. Thanks to Rehman. Imran would surely notch up a hit with this debut. The movie will surely have a decent opening.

Overall a sweet movie..
PS: The theatrical promo of rock on has shown arjun rampal starring with farhan akthar for the first time.

After a decent movie like Samanyudu, this amateurish attempt at a movieabout land mafia comes as a real downer. Victory has perhaps two goodmoments, and the rest of the movie has to be tolerated than enjoyed orappreciated. Director Ravi C. Kumar's last attempt is so much morelow-key, but in terms of story, content, focus, screenplay andperformances it was a hundred fold better. Victory has Nitin showingoff his six pack abs. And little else.

Plot:Viji is living his life when his family and a thousand other familiesare affected by a land grabbing that takes place. The culprit is MLADevaraj and it's a huge scam-but the problem is that he is getting awaywith it. Determined not to let that happen, Viji wants everyone tounite against this anti-social element. People are too scared, but Vijiand his gang are made to take action. The rest of the story is abouthow they bring the bad guy to justice.

Story, Screenplay and Direction :The story has nothing new tooffer. Land Mafia, MLAs, Ring Road, International Airports and a bunchof guys fighting out the system. Charmante. The performances are soamateurish that one wonders whether there was a prompter right there,giving cues to each character throughout the movie. The music is notgood either. The scene composition, screenplay and editing are all donehalf-heartedly.

Mamta'strack starts off like this: she places an ad in a matrimonial site andViji's parents place his. The girl and the guy's parents are incorrespondence. But Viji doesn't know of it, and this girl follows himaround and then tries to make him say that he loves her. Then for along time you don't see the girl, and suddenly she appears again.There's really no logical ending for the love track. One wonders whatthe point of the matrimonial site was-maybe a sponsor? There's a songfull of them, from Idea to RS Brothers, whether used for the effect oras sponsors, one cannot be too sure.

The first half has nothingmuch happening. Some land mafia fights, this half-baked love track,Sindhu Tolani's (who plays a news reporter) friendship with Nitin andgang and stray characters and tracks (MS Narayana and Brahmanandam) whohave little to do with the main plot. The second half you keep hopingwill pick up and not till the last 20 minutes does something reallyhappen. And nothing we haven't seen before sadly. At least if it wasdone well..but the taking is so amateurish that it's surprising (if youknow that the director has experience and his last flick was verywatchable).

Performances: Nitin really needs to slow down on his dialogue delivery. His six packsare in place, and he has even worked on his dance. But he was muchbetter as an actor in his earlier movies, and somehow seems to beneglecting this main aspect with each successive movie. MamtaMohandas's role itself is badly written, in bits and pieces. She is anable singer, but as a female lead, she needs to hone those skills.Shashank as a shop owner and Duvvasi Mohan with his witty Telanganapunches are okay; suddenly their group of 4 becomes 5 post-break andthe new member is given no introduction whatsoever. Tanikella Bharaniand the rest of seasoned performers are not as effortless in theirperformance as usual-they seem artificial, and the direction departmenthas to take the discredit mainly.

Music and Dance: Copied mostly, including a part of the background score (Don). Lackluster in totality.

Last Word :A disappointment.

Victory - High voltage action drama

Nitin is now all set to come up with a complete action flick titled 'Victory. Nitin began his career on a promising note. His film 'Jayam' directed by Teja was a runaway hit and set him firmly as a promising young actor.

Nitin did well for some time but then hit a bad patch. He did not have much success and did not have any films for more than a year. He came back with the film 'Takkari' and then with 'Aatadistha'. But both the films were just average grossers.

This time however, Nitin is determined to make it big with 'Victory'. He worked very hard on his physique end developed not six but eight pack abs for his role in the film.

Keeping Nitin company in the film is the sexy and in form Mamatha Mohandas. Mamatha is not only turning into an actress of repute but is also doing a good job as a singer.

Sashank and Sindhu Tulani play the role of Nitin's friends. The film is about the dreaded land mafia in Hyderabad. Nitin plays a highly educated and honest and socially responsible youngster in the film. The story is how this young man takes on the land mafia and teaches them a bitter lesson. Jagapathi Babu has given the voice over for the film.

Ravi C Kumar needs no introduction. He is an award winning director. Venkat is producing the film on the RR Movie Makers banner. Chakri has scored some delectable music for the film.

Nitin's high voltage fights and stylish dance steps, Mamatha Mohandas' sizzling acts, fast paced action scenes, high voltage drama have all been woven together by Ravi C Kumar.

The film was scheduled for release on May 30 but was postponed as 'Pandurangadu' hit the screens on that date. The next date given was June 14 but even this has been changed as 'Dasavatharam' is releasing on June 13.

The film is now finally slated for release on June 27.

Ever since news and publicity about “Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic” has been doing the rounds, the film’s director Kunal Kohli has insisted it’s not a Bollywood take on the Hollywood classic, “Mary Poppins”.

Well, he may actually be right. There is a little bit of “Mary Poppins” in the nanny with the magic twist. But, there’s also a little bit of another Julie Andrews film, “The Sound of Music”, with the God’s messenger bringing a father closer to his children twist. And there’s a little bit of the Nicolas Cage-Meg Ryan film, “City of Angels”, with the angel choosing love over God twist.

So there’s a lot of “thoda” from here and there, but there’s also lots of “magic”, making Kohli’s latest film as director and first film as producer, a good old Disney-style movie.

As the movie’s title credits roll, we’re shown the childhood of a young Ranbeer Talwar, who is orphaned at a young age. In boarding school, he is the star student, winning every prize up for grabs and losing everyone he loves - parent, teacher and childhood sweetheart.

The older Ranbeer (Saif Ali Khan) is a yuppie businessman, sweeping awards and women off their feet, until one fateful night when he rams his car into an SUV. As a stunned and speechless Ranbeer steps out of his car, the wrecked SUV is towed away and the dead bodies of Mr and Mrs Wallia are brought out, resulting in his arrest and the bereavement of the four Wallia children.

A landmark judgment is passed and instead of a prison sentence, Ranbeer is assigned the responsibility - financial and emotional - of the four children for a three-month trial period. Should Ranbeer fail, he would face a non-bailable prison sentence.

Needless to say, the kids - Vasisht, Avantika, Aditi and Iqbal - are out for revenge and agree to move in with Ranbeer. However, it’s not smooth sailing and after an unpleasant evening, Ranbeer and the kids look up to God for help.

God, played by an all-dressed-in-white Rishi Kapoor and surrounded by a group of female angels, listens to their prayers and dispatches his favourite angel, Geeta (Rani Mukerji), to make the orphans and their new guardian learn to love each other.

And so, begins an adventure as Geeta enters their lives as a nanny and stays on as their Didi.

The plot is pretty predictable - even though highly implausible. However, for once, there is no melodrama. There is no ridiculous twist. There are no unexplainable details despite the fictitious storyline.

Kunal Kohli sticks to the basic formula of a family entertainer with elements of fun and fantasy and he gets it right.

Clearly, “Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic” is a film that has to be for kids, but it’s got that wholesome family feel to it and even the item number with the huge hit “Lazy Lamhe” works as an integral element within the plot.

With a safe and steady script, Kohli’s masterstroke has to be in the casting. Saif Ali Khan is a delight as the stone-hearted bachelor who turns soft. His transformation is believable and the actor’s chemistry with the child artistes is as real as it gets.

Rani Mukerji as Geeta the angel is chirpy in a positive way and manages to steer clear of Bollywood’s annoying good girl characterisation of anything divine.

And what about all those rumours that Saif and Rani barely spoke during the film’s shooting? Doesn’t matter. Ranbeer and Geeta work great on screen.

Even Amisha Patel, as Ranbeer’s girlfriend Malaika, is enjoyable as she nails the silly fashionista part.

However, Kohli deserves a huge thank you for his child artiste discoveries. Ranging in the age-groups of 5-11, the kids are a treat to watch. Their chemistry among themselves is magnificent, their acting restrained, their innocence remains without losing sight of the maturity of today’s children, their timing wonderful and their performances sterling.

The characters in “Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic” have all been sketched out well, allowing the entire cast to work separately within their skins and as a team.

Although the music of the film hasn’t received great reviews with the exception of “Lazy Lamhe”, it serves the purpose of fitting into the framework of a good Bollywood musical.

Go watch it. And don’t forget your kids

The tagline of the film is 'Deenikaina'. Ram and Genelia are the lead pair. Sreenu Vytla who gave two big hits with 'Dhee' and 'Dubai Seenu' is the director. Ram has just two films to his credit so far but he has already acquired the image of a good and stylish actor.

Story :

Chandu (Ram) is from a big joint family of RS Brothers.he is fresh out of college and falls in love with a girl(none other than heroine) who is passing in a Vehicle. Pooja(Genelia) is the only daughter of NRI Chalasani Prasad (Naga babu). She returns to India after the sudden death of her parents in an accident.Her Uncles( Kota Srinivasarao, Jayaprakash Reddy) are factionists and has a rivalry to each other .They had eye on Pooja's Rs.100Crore property and want her to marry their only sons.Chandu's friend Google Gopi (Ravi Varma) is in deep love with a girl who is about to marry and Chandu want to unite the lovers.Instead of Gopi's lover ,Chandu kidnaps Pooja.Chandu takes her to his home and gradually she falls in love with him.Her uncle Pedhinaidu(Kota Srinivasarao) finds her and takes her back to Bellary.How Chandu gets his dream girl forms rest of the story.

Highlights:
What any one expects from a Srinu Vytla's film?Good Comedy!right? Ready has loads of it .Srinu Vytla this times comes with a fully loaded Family entertainer in the lines of Ninne Pelladatha & DDLJ. He has a good script and great lineup of actors(Ram, Brahmanandam, Sunil, Dharmavarapu, MS Narayana, Jayaprakash Reddy, Kota..and the list goes on) and the result is ..as you expected. Though there isn't much story the screenplay(Gopi Mohan,Kona Venkat) is very good,So are the dialogues(Kona Venkat). Ram performed with ease,Genelia looks pretty.Brahmanandam steals the show as McDowell Murthy. Technicalities ( Camera - Prasad Murella,Editing - MR Varma)are adequate.

Sidelights :
Nothing much to say ..Songs( both music & picturisation) could be better.

After watching Dasavatharam- the so called magnum opus of the year- an ardent fan of Kamal Hassan will ask why indeed it is called a magnum opus in the first place. Why was all the hype, tension, cases, expectations and unnecessary expenses wasted on this average film. Once again, Kamal fails to attract Tamil audiences with his own script.

The story starts with an incident taking place in 12th century during the rule of the Chozha dynasty when Hindus were divided into Saivites and Vaishnavites. Rangarajan Nambi (Avatar No.1) is a loyal disciple of Ramanuja Azhwar. King Kulothunga (Napolean - what a fantastic performance!), a follower of Lord Siva, compels Nambi to change his religious beliefs and worship Lord Siva instead of Lord Vishnu but Nambi refuses. The king then orders for the immersion of the statue of Lord Ranganatha along with Nambi into the sea.

After this meaningless first avatar, the movie shifts to the present scientific world. Govind (Avatar No.2), an American scientist invents a dangerous bio weapon in his lab but wants to destroy the same after realizing its dangerous consequences. But the US Govt and scientists don't allow him to do that. One fine day, Govind runs away from the lab with the bio weapon but Fletcher (Avatar No.3), a former CIA officer turned villian, chases him to get the weapon back to destroy other countries.

The weapon is mistakenly sent to an Indian address by courier where a 95 year old lady (Avatar No.4) receives the parcel. Govind immediately rushes to India and traces down the address. He is followed by Fletcher who is accompanied by his prostitute cum translator (Mallika Sherawat). The old lady refuses to give the weapon to them without understanding the danger it could cause and puts it inside a statue of Lord Vishnu.

The scientist captures the statue and starts running with it pulling Asin close relative of the old lady, along with him. Fletcher chases him till the end of the film. A foolish police officer Balram Naidu (Avatar No.5) too is in the race always chasing both these characters.

In between a Punjabi singer (Avatar No.5), US President George Bush ( Avatar No.6), a tall Muslim ( Avatar No.7), a martial arts trainer ( Avatar No.8) and a Southern district resident Annachi ( Avatar No.9) comes, does something and disappears.

Finally the tsunami comes to the rescue of the Scientist and destroys the weapon along with drowning Fletcher . The statue of Lord Rangaraja which was immersed in the sea in 12th century also appears on the shore after the tsunami.

What did Kamal Hassan really want to convey? Lord Ranganatha, the almighty who is sleeping inside the sea for centuries, finally sends a tsunami to destroy the bio weapon along with the bad guy. No doubt, Dasavatharam is really an average movie with a poor plot and characterization that fails in most of the departments and fails to attract the viewers.

What is the necessity or compulsion of portraying Kamal in 10 different get ups?To create some mindless hype or register it as a record in the Industry? Highly idiotic! Particularly the role of Punjabi Singer, Muslim tall man Kalifullah Khan, Annachi and Japanese martial arts trainer unnecessarily intervene in the flow of story.

There is no professionalism in makeup also. For most of the characters, the makeup looks very amateur. Kamal looks like an animation character playing the bad guys role because the makeup is over done. However, one must appreciate him for the hardwork put into playing so many different characters to perform in many roles simultaneously at this age.

Apart from Kamal, Asin plays dual roles for the first time but nothing is special in any of her get ups. Her performance is also not par excellence. Jayapradha appears in few scenes and does well in them. Nothing is special in Himesh Reshammiya's songs or Devi Sri Prasad's background score. Ravi Varman unnecessarily lifts the camera to top angle and shakes even inside a house.

Technically the film is far superior to any other Tamil movie in some scenes, particularly in the tsunami climax. The special effects of Jennie in the last 15 minutes simply rocks. Also the body language of Japanese Kamal is simply excellent. Watch this movie to see Kamal in 10 different avatars. But is it really enough to make a fan to watch a film? This is a big question stand before Kamal fans those known as the lovers of good movies like sensational Mahanadhi or Kuruthipunal!

Kamalji, we expected a lot from you!

PERFORMANCE:

Kamal Haasan once again excelled in his performance. Especially, it was a record in the Indian film industry that an artiste playing 10 different roles on the screen. Moreover, all the 10 roles were distinct and have no connection with one another. Kamal Haasan portrayed the roles of a Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Christian, Japanese, an old woman, a Dalit leader, a police officer, a terrorist, and a scientist. He showed fantastic ease in all the roles and the audiences could not identify Kamal Haasan in some of the roles. Hats Off to the make-up by the Hollywood technicians. Asin also played two roles, once a small role as Kamal Haasan's wife in the flashback dated back to 13th century, and as a girl from a traditional Ayyangar family. The entire film was shot on Kamal Haasan alone and one can watch at least two to three characters played by him on the screen. Mallika Sherawat shook her legs in an item song and later played in a role with negative shades. Jayaprada, KR Vijaya and others did justice to their roles.

TECHNICAL:

Off the screen, there are three highlights and they are absolutely second to none. The first one is the make-up by Michael Westmore. It was a miracle and the normal audiences could not believe that almost all the characters in the film were played by Kamal Haasan. Second comes the cinematography. As the entire film runs with the characters played by Kamal Hassan, the audiences could find two or three characters on the screen and the cinematographer did a commendable job in mixing the scenes in an appropriate manner. Third comes the graphic works. Graphics and technology were used extensively in the film and the tsunami effect in the climax is ultimate. As a whole it is a feast for the eyes of audiences to watch such a technical marvel on the Telugu screen.

REMARKS:

Though the film begins with a story on Chola dynasty and the fight between Vaishnavites and Shivites, how it was related to the present generation story could not be immediately identified by the normal audiences. It was the idol which has common in both the stories. The safeguarding of the 'vial', the container consists of the virus, was not properly established. The hero and heroine keep running with the vial and at times, the scientist worries about its storage. Dialogues by Vennelakanti are just okay and not so great. The production values of Aaskar films are excellent. But for the minor lapses here and there, the film is worth watching for all classes of audiences.

SARKAR RAJ MOVIE REVIEW *ing Amitab,Abhishek& Aishwarya rai

Review :

SARKAR RAJ supersedes the prequel and most importantly, RGV bounces back like never before. If you felt SHIVA and later SATYA were his finest efforts, you've got to watch SARKAR RAJ. An outstanding film in all respects, this film has all it takes to emerge a major success story at the box-office… and a landmark film in everyone's careers.

When Anita [Aishwarya Rai Bachchan], CEO of Sheppard Power Plant, an international company, brings a power plant proposal to set up in rural Maharashtra before the Nagres, insightful Shankar [Abhishek Bachchan] is quick to realize the benefits the power plant can bring to the people.

After convincing Sarkar [Amitabh Bachchan], who is against it for various reasons, Shankar undertakes a journey along with Anita to the villages of Maharashtra to mobilize support from the masses.

However, things are not what they seem to be and Shankar's dream project gradually becomes a political minefield. The evil forces, mightier than ever, mushroom and gang up to bring down the regime of Sarkar and obliterate Shankar's name from the political horizon.

SARKAR RAJ exudes a lot of power from the word 'Go'. But let's not categorize SARKAR RAJ as yet another “political film”. Emotions and relationships run concurrently in those 2+ hours. What works in favor of SARKAR RAJ is its tight writing. It's not difficult to decipher the power play, but more importantly, there's meat in the script. It leaves you awe-struck as the plot thickens. The film throws a number of surprises, but the best is reserved for the penultimate 20/25 minutes. The culmination to the story is simply fantastic!

RGV shines like never before. He takes to SARKAR RAJ with a vengeance. He has to prove that the sequel is better, he has to prove the detractors wrong too. While RGV has handled the subject with great expertise, you cannot ignore a few scenes that leave a lasting impact…
* Ash's first meeting with the Bachchans to explain the power project;
* Govind Namdev trying to bribe Abhishek;
* The Bachchans' visit to Dilip Prabhawalkar's residence;
* The Bachchans' discussion over Kay Kay [who was shot dead by Abhishek in the prequel];
* The turning point in the film [not to be disclosed];
* The penultimate reels when the real culprit stands exposed. It hits you like a ton of bricks.

Besides its strong content, SARKAR RAJ has been filmed exceptionally well too. In fact, SARKAR RAJ has the trademark RGV stamp in every sequence. The review would be incomplete without giving the due credit to writer Prashant Pandey's incredible and almost flawless script. Amar Mohile's background score is topnotch. The by-now-famous 'Govinda' chant in the background only enhances the impact. Amit Roy's cinematography is exceptional. The DoP succeeds in giving the film the raw-n-rustic look, which works very well. Action [Allan Amin], in minimal doses, is perfect.

SARKAR RAJ is embellished with superb performances! Amitabh Bachchan, expectedly, comes up with a terrific performance. He's as ferocious as a wounded tiger in the finale and takes the film to great heights.

First YUVA, then GURU, now SARKAR RAJ. Abhishek Bachchan is cast opposite the finest actor of this country, yet he sparkles in every sequence. This time, the father and son go neck to neck as far as acting honors go. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is fabulous and delivers her career-best performance in SARKAR RAJ. Enough has been written about her looks, but not much space has been devoted to her performances. HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM, DEVDAS, PROVOKED, GURU, JODHAA AKBAR and now SARKAR RAJ - she's only got better with every film.

Every supporting actor in SARKAR RAJ stands out - Dilip Prabhawalkar [superb], Govind Namdev [first-rate], Sayaji Shinde [perfect], Ravi Kale [terrific] and Supriya Pathak [good]. Tanisha is alright. The actor enacting the role of Dilip Prabhawalkar's grandson makes a strong impact.

On the whole, SARKAR RAJ is an exceptional film in all respects

Story:

Kundarika ( Balakrishna ) is a follower of Lord Krishna but for the wrong reasons. He does all the mischievous things that Lord Krishna did in his reign. Once when his family members ask him to marry he leaves his village and runs away. After his family members perform a yagnam he comes back to his village. In the neighboring village Lakshmi ( Sneha ) is a big devotee of Lord Krishna. One night Lord Krishna appears in her dreams and asks her to marry Kundarika. So Lakshmi's father approaches Bala Krishna but he refuses. Later after some persuasion from Lakshmim, Kundarika accepts the marriage.

In the mean time Amrutha ( Tabu ) a dancer comes to their village. Kundarika is mesmerized by her beauty and goes into a relationship with her. He offers all the gold in the house to her. But after the marriage he stops visiting Amrutha. Knowing this Amrutha's mother calls Kundarika for a meal and serves poison to him and grabs all his wealth. The rest of the movie is how Kundarika turns to Lord Krishna's devotee and get backs to his family....


Highlights:
Nandamuri Balakrishna's action in the movie is the top notch. He managed the dual roles of Lord Krishna and Kundarika very well. He adjusted from the woman's man role to devotee role very well. Balakrishna as Lord Krishna made the audience think of Sr.NTR . Sneha's acting has done a good job as wife of Balakrishna. K.Vishwanth as always stealed the show with his acting. Mohan Babu's guest role is brief but brilliant. Raghavendra Rao's direction showed in the songs. Also he succeeded in showing the movie differently when compared to his previous movies. The taking second half of the film is simply awesome. Second Half of the movie dominates. Kiravani's tunes added to the movie.

Story - screenplay - direction:
This film is a remake of NTR’s classic Panduranga Mahatyam. The story is about the redemption of a flirt and of an irresponsible son. The writer of the film had lot of limitations because of the original. The characterization and exposing of Tabu character is gone beyond the limits though her character is supposed to be that of a prostitute. Direction by K Raghavendra Rao is adequate. But he could not get the emotions work in this film the way he has done for Annamayya and Sri Ramadasu (that is probably because all Telugus are fond of those historic characters). Screenplay of the film should have been better.
Other departments:
The music scored by MM Keeravani is good. Cinematography by Jayaram is neat. Dialogues by JK Bharavi are nice. He used rhyme (prasa) to get a couple of good one-lines like pelli kala vachindi (kala refers to dream, but not glow) and ‘meeru aadu (aada) vaaru. Memu aadinchu vaaramu’. Editing is alright.
Sidelights:
L.B. Sri Ram as Narada did not fit the role. Bharavi's story is not as effective as his previous ones. The graphic work in the movie is too weak to handle. The story is the first half seems a little bit dragged. There is no much comedy in the movie. The comedy scenes involving Sunil, Ali and Dharmavaram Subramanyam pertained to a few giggles in the audience. Raghavendra Rao's selection of character artists for Lord Krishna's wives did not please the audience.


Verdict: Movie is a 100% hit and works out very well at the box office.
Rating : 7/10

And Balakrishna fan's will be well satisfied.

BUJJIGAADU (made in chennai) movie *ing Prabhas review

My analysis: Bujjigadu - made in Chennai doesn’t have anything special in it except the name Puri Jagannath who spoiled the entire movie. Bujjigadu is built on a very silly and thin story line which will not appeal to the mass audiuence. It is a complete mass masala movie from Prabhas who gave good performance. Mohan Babu is the real saviour of the movie who actually tried to make Bujjigadu a big success but failed miserably due to the story line.

Performances: Prabhas has again given a powerful mass performance in Bujjigadu like his earlier movies Chatrapathi, Yogi and Munna. He did his routine performance and there is nothing different or variation in his action, dialogues and emotion.

Trisha is slowly converting her image from a girl next door to a modern, posh girl. She started this image shift from Stalin and continued with Krishna and reached to a higher level in this movie. She is seen in deep neck tops and micro mini skirts in most of the scenes and songs in Bujjigadu.

Sanjana, a new heroine is totally wasted in this movie. She acts as the younger sister to Trisha but has nothing much to perform.

Mohan Babu as the powerful mafia don did his role in his own Mohan Babu style. He is the only saving grace of the movie. He essayed his role with his own style of dialogue delivery. He looks cool and stylish in this movie.

Kota Srinivas Rao and his sons Chatrapathi Katraaj, Ajay and Subbaraju are the villans in Bujjigadu who are again routine.

Other characters like Sunil, MS Nanrayana and Ali could not bring laughter or life to the movie.

Music by Sandeep Chowta is just average. He tried to mix his bollywood talent with telugu nativity but failed miserably in it. Even the visuals couldnt add any grace to the music. The entire music and songs are fast and confusing.

Fights by Vijayan are routine. The bad part is that we get to see Prabhas flying too much in the fights which is not the trend now.

Story by Puri Jagannath is the worst part in the entire movie called Bujjigadu. I dont understand and am also not able to digest the fact that a person who made a superhit movie like Pokiri can also make a movie like Bujjigadu. How did he select this story line of love between 10 years old kids ????

I personally feel that Puri Jagannath has totally wasted the excellent talents of Prabhas, Mohan Babu, Kota Srinivas Rao, Ajay and Trisha by making them a part of this movie.

When story is so bad what can we talk about the direction or dialogues. Both are below average.

Story: Bujjigadu alias Linga Raju (Prabhas) and Chitti (Trisha) are childhood lovers who decide to talk with each other after 12 years because of a small fight between them. Bujji runs away from home and comes back after 12 years searching for his Chitti. Chitti also searches for Bujji. Meanwhile, Bujjigadu takes money from Machi Reddy (Kota Srinivas Rao) and his sons to kill Siva Anna (Mohan Babu), but later realizes that Sivanna is the brother of Chitti. How Bujjigadu wins his long lost love and also how Sivanna and Bujjigadu take revenge on their enemies from the remaining part of the story.
